Ken Clark grew up in the homebuilding industry. Since his father, Donald Clark, was a professional builder of traditional “stick-built” homes, he felt it was almost inevitable that he would somehow wind up involved. Although his dad urged him to carve out a career in the corporate world, after a few years, Ken knew it just wasn’t for him. “I grew up in the building business and absolutely love it – it’s in my blood,” he says.
Finally ready to pursue his passion, he joined his father’s business and, eventually, was approached by potential clients specifically looking for log homes. Ken and his father researched various available log home “kits” and discovered they were less than builder-friendly. Rather than tell clients they didn’t build log homes, they began researching what it would take for them to manufacture a log home that was truly builder-friendly – built by builders, for builders. In a while, Beaver Mountain Log & Cedar Homes was born.
After Don retired in 1996, Ken took the reins as President. A proactive, hands-on Owner, Ken is the driving force behind Beaver Mountain’s push to adapt, grow, and excel, to keep up with a world that’s always changing around us.
If you see Ken outside the office, he’ll typically be enjoying the company of his wife, Karen, while gardening, boating, and snowmobiling with their many children and grandchildren. The family has a longstanding love of horses and has successfully shown quarter horses for many years.
Every day, as our Business Manager, Drew leverages his more than 15 years of experience in manufacturing and business management. As well as being responsible for accounting and human resources, he acts as our IT Coordinator, Database Programmer, and oversees Beaver Mountain’s website, blog, and social media presence. Drew spends countless hours researching the best insurance companies, employee benefits packages, and energy-saving programs that will ensure our company is running as efficiently as possible.
Having been with Beaver Mountain for more than 14 years, he’s had many opportunities to bring his education, an Associate’s Degree in Architecture, into play and get involved with design and production aspects of the business. He enjoys maintaining and managing the kiln-drying of our cant stock (a sawmilling term that refers to a partially sawn log edged on one or more sides). This activity requires numerous trips to the kilns to measure the moisture level in the cants during the drying process.
In addition to wearing all these hats, Drew is a licensed helicopter pilot, a goal he pursued since childhood. An active, involved father, he enjoys camping, skiing, fishing, and boating with his wife and their eight children.
At Beaver Mountain, every home is unique and custom-designed for each client. As we never create two homes that are exactly alike, someone has to oversee every detail of every drawing and quality-check each piece of material we produce. As Operations Manager, Todd Parsons does all of this and much more.
With an AAS from SUNY Delhi and a BA from Binghamton University, Todd is well qualified to manage the day to day operations here at Beaver Mountain. After joining our team in 1997, Todd began his career with us by working in manufacturing. Later, he moved into the engineering department.
Today, his daily responsibilities include reviewing drawings, ordering building materials, keeping up to speed with building codes, researching new products to enhance clients’ homes, and making sure production runs smoothly and on time.
Todd also oversees our Customer Service Department to ensure we provide superb service throughout the design/build process and well beyond completion of construction.
For Todd, life is much more than all work. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors, fishing, traveling, and golfing.
Since 1996, JoAnn’s career has included roles in administration and customer relations, experience that has proved to be a valuable asset in her role as Beaver Mountain’s Customer Administrator. Her customer service knowledge, understanding of payment schedules, and finesse in scheduling homes for delivery helps smooth our process and ensure timely delivery.
JoAnn understands that for clients building their dream homes, communication is key. Throughout the excitement of the process, questions are bound to arise. Who can we speak with about scheduling an appointment? Who can update us on the timeline for our new home? With her welcoming smile and kind demeanor, JoAnn takes pride and pleasure in answering questions, addressing concerns, and solving problems.
Whether clients call the office or stop by for a walk through our Design Center or a tour of our three model homes, JoAnn’s is the first face they’ll see. She enjoys meeting new people and learning about our clients’ unique and special dreams for their new log homes.

In her time away from work, JoAnn enjoys gardening, cooking, going to the beach, oil painting, and working on home projects with her husband. She has two children and several grandchildren who keep her quite busy.
Since 1999, Chris, a Binghamton University graduate with a passion for log homes and a sincere desire to help others, has worked tirelessly and passionately to promote Beaver Mountain’s core values. He is responsible for business development in both our New York and New England markets. During his tenure, Chris has consistently been a Top Sales Performer and has been recognized with several Million Dollar Circle Awards from the National Association of Home Builders. One of a handful of professionals who have been recognized by the system built industry, he once earned a coveted spot in “The Class of 2009: Top 30 under 40.”
Chris’ strong work ethic, organizational skills, and keen eye for detail have won him respect from coworkers and appreciation from clients. Jim and Ruth, Beaver Mountain clients from Floral Park, New York, told him, “This has been our first experience with a Sales Consultant who was so knowledgeable…you were honest and up front with us, which we truly appreciated, and gave us a good idea how to start our summer home project. You never made us feel rushed.” Patrice and Rich from North Haven, Connecticut, said, “I am so pleased with the way you listened and incorporated our discussions into our plans. Exuding a warm, engaging personality that puts everyone around him at ease, Chris strives to make the planning process more collaborative and enjoyable. He admits, “I derive a great deal of satisfaction from managing and coordinating a successful home building project. There is nothing better than helping a family realize their vision of a dream home, and then assembling a team that pulls it off beautifully. I have truly been blessed to have worked with such great people over the years…it has definitely been a team effort!”
In his off time, Chris enjoys relaxing with his wife and two boys. Although he doesn’t consider himself a real outdoorsman, he does occasionally enjoy camping, fishing, and hiking. He is also an avid sports fan. A self-proclaimed baseball fanatic, Chris has volunteered as a Little League coach and loves heading out to the ballpark to catch a game, a summer tradition he began with his father and carries on today with his children.
Having grown up in the log home industry as the daughter of Ken Clark, President of Beaver Mountain Log & Cedar Homes, Kourtnie has first-hand experience with just what it takes to create a dream home from the inside out. She understands that the design/build process can be an amazing experience, chock full of great expectations, incredible anticipation, and many questions.
Who do I talk to about designing a new home? Who can I speak with about interior design ideas? Kourtnie is happy to take the time to get to know you and cheerfully answer all your questions. While earning her Associates Degree in Interior Design from Onondaga Community College, Kourtnie had the opportunity to work with a well-respected kitchen and bath designer, as well as a prominent interior designer. After listening to your individual wants, needs, and overall lifestyle plans, she will shepherd you through the entire design process, from conceiving the initial floor plan to deciding on the smallest details in every room. With her cheerful nature, a ready smile, and sincere desire to make people happy, Kourtnie is always eager to help Beaver Mountain clients envision their new homes in ways that enable them to achieve their personal goals.
Kourtnie has excellent working relationships with a variety of other professionals who may become involved in your building process: builders, kitchen and bath designers, realtors, lighting designers, flooring companies, and more. To save you time and improve your overall experience, she’ll introduce you to the right people, at the right time, throughout your journey.
In her time away from work, Kourtnie likes showing her horse competitively, kayaking, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying her passion for music.
John has been a member of the Beaver Mountain family for more than 15 years. His clients benefit from his extensive background in drafting and CAD design, as well as his years of experience working in the home building arena.
Serving as the Project Manager, John develops bid specifications, helps solicits competitive builder bids, and generates a bid analysis to help our clients accurately assess and compare quotes. He stays in regular contact with both clients and builders to keep projects on track and on schedule. A highly effective brand ambassador with a unwavering commitment to quality, he represents Beaver Mountain Log & Cedar Homes at many regional log home shows. His expertise and experience, as well as his genuine interest in helping people, enables him to take questions from attendees and provide thorough, accurate answers.
With the help of John’s professional guidance and insight, Beaver Mountain clients are able to plan for and visualize each element in their custom log home or timber frame homes. Upon design approval, John works hand-in-hand with our in-house engineering department to turn his conceptual designs into more formal construction, assembly, and detail drawings.

John and his wife Traci love spending time with their son Justin. In his spare time, John enjoys fishing, golfing, hiking, and honing his outdoor photography skills.
